মোর বুক ভরা ছিল আশা প্রাণ ভরা ভালোবাসা। হায় আসিল সে যবে কাছে মুখে সরিল না ভাষা।। আমি পেয়েছিলাম তায় একা ছিল চোখে তাহার প্রেম-লেখা, তবু বলিতে পারিনি তারে কাঁদে প্রাণে কি দুরাশা।। এসে ভরা নদীর তীরে পান না করিয়া বারি আমি আসিলাম ফিরে — ছিল তৃষ্ণা-কাতর এ প্রাণে মরুভূমির পিয়াসা।।

মম তনুর ময়ূর-সিংহাসনে এসো রূপকুমার ফর্হাদ্। (মোর)ঘুম যবে ভাঙিল, প্রিয়, গগনে ঢলিয়া পড়িল চাঁদ।। আমি শিঁরি – হেরেমের১ নন্দিনী গো ছিনু অহঙ্কারের কারা-বন্দিনী গো, ভেবেছিনু তুমি শুধু রূপের পাগল — বুঝি নাই কা’রে বলে প্রেম-উন্মাদ।। গিরি-পাষাণে আঁকিলে তুমি যে ছবি মম, দিলে যে মধু, সেই মধু চেয়ে, সেই শিলা বুকে ল’য়ে কাঁদি, ফিরে এসো, ফিরে এসো বঁধু। ল’য়ে যাও সেই প্রেম-লোকে, বিরহী কাঁদিছে যথায় ‘শিঁরি শিঁরি’ কহি’— আজ ভরিয়াছে বিষাদের বিলাপে গোলাপের সাধ।।

মমতাজ মমতাজ তোমার তাজমহল — যেন ফিরদৌসের একমুঠো প্রেম, বৃন্দাবনের একমুঠো প্রেম, আজো করে ঝলমল।। কত সম্রাট হ’ল ধূলি স্মৃতির গোরস্তানে — পৃথিবী ভুলিতে নারে প্রেমিক শাহ্জাহানে, শ্বেত মর্মরে সেই বিরহীর ক্রন্দন –মর্মর গুঞ্জরে অবিরল।। কেমনে জানিল শাজাহান – প্রেম পৃথিবীতে ম’রে যায়, তাই পাষাণ প্রেমের স্মৃতি রেখে গেল পাষাণে লিখিয়া হায়! যেন তাজের পাষাণ অঞ্জলি ল’য়ে নিঠুর বিধাতা পানে অতৃপ্ত প্রেম বিরহী আত্মা আজো অভিযোগ হানে! বুঝি সেই লাজে বালুকায় মুখ লুকাইতে চায় শীর্ণা যমুনা জল।।

মোরা এক বৃন্তে দু’টি কুসুম হিন্দু-মুসলমান। মুসলিম তার নয়ন-মণি, হিন্দু তাহার প্রাণ।। এক সে আকাশ মায়ের কোলে যেন রবি শশী দোলে, এক রক্ত বুকের তলে, এক সে নাড়ির টান।। এক সে দেশের খাই গো হাওয়া, এক সে দেশের জল, এক সে মায়ের বক্ষে ফলাই একই ফুল ও ফল। এক সে দেশের মাটিতে পাই কেউ গোরে কেউ শ্মাশানে ঠাঁই এক ভাষাতে মা’কে ডাকি, এক সুরে গাই গান।।
